I was very very surprised, how delicious the food was. Discovered it while driving home one night, even our son enjoyed the food. The portions are huge, but still tasty. Service was excellent. We will surely be back.

Beware future banquet event holders! We've eaten here many times (in the restaurant section ) and the food was fine. But we just ate here last night for a banquet and our food was awful. My meal was chicken: a rubbery, dry chicken breast that couldn't be eaten dry no flavor rice frozen peas and carrots (really?? I didn't know this still existed and surely shouldn't be served in a restaurant!!) Why not a baked potato and a normal vegetable? Service was unfriendly and waitress removed full plates of food without even asking if we were finished (including the people who were not seated at the time of the table clearing.)

Foods good unfortunately the service is horrible. They make a good steak and almost everything else but the wait staff is always missing when you need something.

I have always heard about this place but never been here until recently. The food is outstanding, I have never had a bad meal here. The staff members are all very pleasant and helpful. I look forward to going back and trying more!!

I've been to this place twice. Both times I ordered a ribeye medium rare. First time it was dead only 3 other tables seated. The steak was cooked perfect our appetizers were great and service was good but not great. Second time it was packed no wait. Ribeye was overcooked. Service was HORRIBLE server got all of our drink orders wrong (only 3) and she was mad that we wanted them corrected. Nothing worse than a place that's inconsistent and judging by the reviews this seems like the case. I will not return

Please do not go here unless you are starving. I ordered the meatloaf and ate so much it was like thanksgiving. Service was good, bread was good. I wasn't a fan of the meatloaf sauce. I like gravy instead. This is one big restaurant with two separate themes. The kitchen is the same one. We have eaten at both so you cannot go wrong at either one.

Sat at the bar tonight. Good food as usual. We had French onion soup a favorite!! Tried the fried Mac & cheese balls in tomato cream sauce, YUM! The sauce went with it perfectly. Bar tender was a bit stand-off'ish, my only negative of the visit. Bartending 101-make your customers feel like they are visiting an old friend.

Not too many choices for good food in red lion. This place is pretty good! I came with a large table of 10 people. We each ordered something different. Most of the food was good. One miss was the crab cakes. The rest of the food was yummy, our service was great, and the drinks were better than expected.

I have been going to this restaurant for years and have always had great meals. The dishes are so consistent from one year to the next, I was disappointed that they dropped the lemon chicken with capers from the menu. It was outstanding, but I now have a new favorite.

Ah.maz.ing . Our favorite local restaurant. Is a little expensive, but worth it. There is almost always a wait, but the food is always freshly made and tastes phenomenal. We have yet to order anything bad and like to try different things. Don't leave without trying the Grilled Meatloaf. We think it's worth dying for! The best local calamari too. When we don't feel like fighting the weekend date night crowds, we order take out and is just as fresh and good!

The selection was great. The atmosphere was a nice wooded saloon themed. The service was great. The food was awesome!! Very delicious and the plate was beautiful! Prices were reasonable. Will be going back for sure!!

Great food and excellent customer service. All for a very reasonable price. The menu looks amazing, and I would be willing to order anything on it because it all looks delicious. Atmosphere is also great. Definitely would come back again and bring friends.

Always friendly staff. Food and wine reasonably priced. Although it is called a "saloon" I don't see it that way. It is a nice restaurant with a bar. My ribeye was nice, although I ordered medium and it had blood throughout. Wife's sirloin was order medium well and it was dry. Almost well done. Salads were huge. Potatoes were dried out. Would I return? Sure. No place is perfect. If it happens again, maybe I would say something. At least we were not rushed.

Was very excited to eat here after seeing so many good reviews. Turned out to be a big let down. I ordered the Scottish Eggs and the Chesapeake Trio. The Scottish Eggs were overcooked and had a tinge of rancid fryer grease. It was served with a dipping sauce that was pretty much mayonnaise as far as I can tell. Probably the worst Scott eggs I've had. The Trio was also not up to par. Shrimp hard and dry, and the crab had a weird taste that I'm guessing was freezer burn. Probably the blandest half hearted attempt at cuisine I've ever seen. Will not return.

The food was good appetizers showed up in a timely manner. But the kitchen cannot keep up with a busy restaurant. We waited a half hour for two sandwiches. They rail you on adult beverages. Probably won't be back.

When we lived in York, this was our go to restaurant. I don't think we've ever had a bad meal here. The ribs are great, just enough sauce on them to enhance but not smother the meat. My husband is in love with their glazed carrots. My personal favorite side is their sweet potatoes. Little brown sugar and cinnamon on them and they're just about perfect. They have a decent selection of alcoholic drinks. My go to is an Amerreto Sour and this is one of the few places I've found that knows how to make a good one. It's often the case that we're too full from dinner for dessert, but on the few occasions we've indulged it was on the molten lava cake. If you decide to go on a weekend, either go early like 4:30/5, or be prepared for a wait. It's usually only about 15-20 minutes, but can sometimes get to 40 minutes. On evenings when the weather is nice they'll put tables out on the front porch for outdoor dining which is a nice change from what can be a bustling dining room. They are family friendly, with high chairs and a kids menu available, but be warned that there are stuffed animals on the wall that can freak out the little ones.

Visited for the second time. Reception was immediate and courteous. Food server did not introduce himself by name but he was prompt, friendly and attentive to our needs. I had the seafood Milano special which was absolutely delicious. I encouraged the food server to recommend that this dish be a regular menu item. The southwest eggrolls were tasty and seemed to be freshly homemade. The marinated steak salad was tender, the vegetables crisp and fresh, and the dressing light. The New York strip steak was thick, done precisely medium rare as ordered, and was ver tasty. The cost was slightly higher than other American faire restaurants, but considering the quality of the food, it was well worth it.

over rated. over priced. sub-par quality... if you do end up at this joke of a steakhouse, ask the owner for a "discount"! he loves when you do that!

Great American Saloon is by far the nicest restaurant in the RL area. The food is always very good as well as the service. Reservation on weekend limited to five or more. There is a bar to pass the time if you have to wait, which many times you do over the weekend. I have had many of the pasta dishes and would have a hard time picking the best. Chicken Florentine is one of my wife's favorites. The ribs are very good and messy. One of my favorites is the skirt steak and garlic mashed potatoes. GAS is one of the few places in the area you can go have a relaxing meal and enjoy a beer or wine with your meal. The menu has a variety of steaks, chicken, seafood and pasta dishes, something for everyone. There are usually one or two daily specials that are not on the menu. The GAS also has a banquet room next to the restaurant which is very nice for parties or banquets. We had my parents' fiftieth wedding anniversary party here and had a great time. I have had the pleasure of being in the kitchen a few times to see the actual operation of the restaurant. It is very clean and very organized.

This is a surprisingly good gem of a restaurant, tucked away in a shopping center in Red Lion. They serve American food, nothing exotic or glamourous, but pretty decent.

Fantastic service and honestly the best fillet we've ever had. Cooked to perfection which was a true first (one of us usually ends up with an over or under done steak) -kudos to the chef working the grill! Also the best sweet potato fries ever- even better with a touch of the cinnamon honey butter they serve with the bread! The creamed spinach side was also excellent-fresh, creamy with just the right amount of herbs and seasonings. My husband also had the skillet beans side and they were great. We didn't have room for dessert, but nothing on offer really interested us. Coming from Philly, we got quality food and service here that would have been twice the price in the city, which was an added bonus. The only criticism we had was the rowdy crowd assembled directly in front of the entrance. We didn't know that the place also has a banquet hall that does weddings for up to 200 people. The smokers were congregated at the entrance and made us wonder if we came on the wrong night. I would suggest the place offer a spot in the back of the restaurant for the smokers when a wedding is on.

Wow it's been a couple of years since I have eaten here and man it went down hill! Everything was simply gross! $9.00 for a top shelf bloody Mary? But that would have been ok. I pay $10.00 for a Martini at the Left Bank with no complaints. My complaint here is the food! I asked for a Reuben and got this cold sandwich with lettuce and onions an tomatoes? My friend had the Tuna to say the least it was not Sushi grade it was more like bait grade! The meatloaf was a solid brick of flavorless meat with a disgusting congealed gravy. Everything was served cold and when it was sent back it was nuked and still cold. The sesame chicken was also an overcooked cold mess. The food used to be pretty ok but the owner passed away and perhaps he took his recipes with him. He should have taken the present day chef with him too! My friend even upchucked after the meal. In fact As I am writing this review I am not feeling to well myself. Maybe it was the cream spinach? I assume with these sick feeling that nothing was fresh either. I feel a headache coming on! Don't do it!

Not a place I'd be clamoring to go to again, but the food was okay and our waitress was professional. We did have an issue at the start of our evening. I had made reservations to celebrate my parents' anniversary on a Saturday evening. Upon arriving, we were told that their "policy" was to not seat reserved tables for groups of 4 (we originally had 5 in our party but someone couldn't make it). They refused to seat us at a large table and informed us that we'd have to wait for a smaller table to open up. Defeats the purpose of a reservation if you ask me, but I guess money is more important keeping customers happy. I got the Crab and Corn Fettuccine. It had nice pieces of crab meat in it but the cream sauce they put on it overwhelmed the flavors (menu said white wine sauce, so someone's wires got crossed). My sister's steak salad came in a tortilla shell that was also not mentioned on the menu. She seemed less than impressed. My dad had the salmon and he liked that. The cream of crab soup was actually really good and the dessert we all split (Choc/PB cake) was quite moist and delicious. So...just go for the soup and dessert. Or let them mix and match their menu items for you!

Heard about this place for while. Finally got there last night. Was very impressed with everything from start to finish. Had a seafood platter that was excellent. The dessert was out of this world. The coockie dough. Never had it. Long story short I am definitely recommanding this place to everyone. Was looking for a reason to complain but there was simply non. Waiter was beyond and above. Appetizer (calamari) was the real squid not just the rings which is hard to find in this town and of course the dessert as mentioned. I am a bitch and have no problem knocking down a place. Was looking to but could not fine one reason to.

This is the biggest little diamond in rough!! This has been a fav spot of ours for years. Giant portions (so get a box half way through so you can save room for dessert) and a huge menu. You will have a hard time straying from your fav dish, but it will be worth trying something new. There are so many items!! Some of my favs are the Chicken Rigatoni (best sauce) and the chicken Madeira; steak Chesapeake, salmon....... Apps: nachos, taverna shrimp, TexMex Eggrolls... I also have my sons birthday party in the banquets room every year. A huge space, great pricing, and plenty of food options. Great family owned place! Highly recommended!

Everything was very good here. The bread they served was warm and delicious, as good as it gets. Served with butter and also a honey butter, which was interesting and good, but I preferred the regular butter. We had Macaroni balls for an appetizer, I pictured golf ball sized items, but these were at least the size of a baseball, and you got 3 with an order. They are made with jalapeno and bacon and deep fried - very tasty. They were served with a Tomato parmesan cream sauce, that made them even better. We also tried the crab dip...it was excellent. A must have. For dinner, I had a seafood pasta dish, with shrimp, scallops and salmon, covered in a parmesan bread crumb topping and then a tomato cream sauce, This was good, but I would try something different next time. My wife had Shrimp Bistro, which was shrimp in oil and garlic over pasta - a much lighter dish. She says it was tasty. All and all, they have a nice variety of unique dishes to try, so would like to do several trips there to taste all they have to offer

This is another one of our favorite restaurants. Love the decor and ambiance. They have the best BBQ ribs and Ribeye steak around. We always take guests from out of town here because we know the food is always consistently tasty. Staff is usually friendly and helpful. Give this place a try, you won't be sorry!

The Great American Saloon may not look like much from the outside, but once you walk in, it is spacious and nicely. decorated. The bar area is huge and superb. My wife and I come here often and the food and service are excellent. The menu is extensive. I have had the steak and crabcake, burgers and a few other items. My wife enjoys the chicken rigatoni. However, the ribs are to die for. I have eaten ribs at many restaurants, but I must say so far these are the best. If you do come, be sure to arrive a bit early on the weekends, as this place gets packed. It gets very noisy, but then again, it's a saloon. However, during the week it's pretty quiet and there is no wait. This restaurant is so much better than most chains around here. So if you are in Red Lion, try it out.

I definitely am a fan of this place. Crab cakes and butterfly shrimp are my favorites. They also have a pretty extensive menu, so it should not be a challenge to find something you may like. A word of warning though, if you have a problem with taxidermy, stepping into this establishment will give you nightmares for life.

My friends and family decided to host a retirement dinner for me at this restaurant on a recent Saturday night. The food was very good and the service was excellent. I must however voice a few concerns, 1. Although reservations had been procured for the 15 of us in attendance, we were SQUEEZED into a couple of tables put together in a corner of the restaurant, and could only converse with the five people closest to us. The other concern was the attitude of the restaurant's host & hostesses, in my opinion we were treated as though we were an inconvenience instead of a customer. One other issue was, there is very little room for customers that are waiting for tables. I guess it would be ok on a warm night we could wait outside, but it was very cold and blowing so it was very uncomfortable for the 45 minutes we had to wait for our table.

I've been going to this place for years and I've always had a great experience each time. Once or twice, the meat was dry, but I don't expect everything to always be perfect. I've always had friendly service and I've always been stuffed with the amount of tasty food served. Like another reviewer stated, the decorative surroundings are great if you like the outdoors, and it's fine for families of all sizes. There's also a huge bar where the locals hang out during the day.

This place is great, another one of my favorite restaurants. I've been going here since they opened and will cont to go every time I'm home. The service is great, supper friendly & consistent. The pasta & chicken dishes are always a fav, the crab cakes are really good too. Ask for their signature drink, the undercurrent!! Yum Yum!! A few of those & it's gonna be a good nite!!
